I learned about this organization through another survivor of a line of duty death from the same department.  Following my conversation with this other survivor I received a phone call from the Case Manager of the Thin Blue Line of Michigan.  She had been contacted by this other survivor in regard to my needs and the organization initiated the phone call.  I explained what I wished more than any thing in the world and I was asked to provide the necessary paper work to support my request.  Not only did the organization help me with my request to go to the 2004 Law Enforcement Memorial in Washington DC they handled everything for me from scheduling the hotel reservations, the air line tickets and having me and my son picked up at the airport in Washington DC by US Marshalls and returned by the same great people when returning to Michigan following the services.  I was totally shocked since my spouse had been killed in the line of duty in 1986. All of these services were provide to me and my son after I had requested services from another organization that turned me down.  I couldn’t believe that I was being treated so well by the Thin Blue Line of Michigan.  They are truly a blessing.  My son and I were provided the opportunity to see my husband’s name on the memorial wall as well as being able to say a final good-bye to my Freddie.  This organization went as far as getting Freddie’s name read again during the Candle Light Service as I had never attended before.  When Freddie died the wall had yet to be built and I was unable financially to attend when it was built and his name was called the first year.  The Thin Blue Line of Michigan is full of beautiful people.  Without the Thin Blue Line of Michigan the families in Detroit Police Department would be lost.
