"Blessed are the Peacemakers....." October 17, 2016 11:48

The majority of the Blog Posts made are about the delivery of services to Michigan’s Public Safety community.

I wanted to share this story. The majority of the citizens we serve reflect the action taken by those involved in making this kind acknowledgement possible.

Father Mike Woempner of the St. Mary Queen of Peace in Kingsford, Michigan made the following remarks to his parishioners and the showing of support for law enforcement became evident.

“We’re living in a society where the very people we depend on to defend and protect us are coming under criticism and attack”

“Some of these men and women are being targeted for physical injury or worse “

“We’ve all read reports of how protests and demonstrations are aimed at the men and women who risk their lives to keep us safe”

“If the very people who are criticizing and demonstrating against law enforcement were to be threatened “Father Woempner said “they would not only want but expect law enforcement to intercede.

From those remarks the Parishioners of St. Mary Queen of Peace initiated an idea that would show support for law enforcement. Local businesses were contacted and BK Enterprises and Sherwood signs and Graphic Design of Crystal Falls who produced a vanity license plate, decals for which a free will donation will be taken and the proceeds of which will be donated to the Thin Blue Line of Michigan !

From the Thin Blue Line Office, thank you for the kind words, thoughts and prayers for Michigan’s Public Safety Officers and their families. God Bless.

Helping the Family of a Young Hero !! September 28, 2016 17:28

In an effort to highlight the types of case files handled by the Thin Blue Line of Michigan, periodic stories will be published to inform Michigan's Public Safety Community of the matters handled and outcomes.

In late February of 2013 a young Volunteer Fire Fighter while on a fire run died in the line of duty. He was a true Hero who through his volunteer service made his community safer.

Thin Blue Line of Michigan was referred to Mattawan Fire District by the City of Kalamazoo after having offered assistance during the Line of Duty Death of Police Officer Zapata.

Thin Blue Line of Michigan offered assistance in filing all related Public Safety Officers Benefits for the Mattawan Fire District and the surviving family. Thin Blue Line of Michigan Representatives handled everything that needed to be done and for this Small Town these efforts provided peace of mind during a very difficult time.

In closing, evaluation statements provided the following comments about Thin Blue Line of Michigan's services.

" In a time of emotional Chaos and stress they are able to lessen the burden and provide peace of mind"

'If any other department experiences a Line of Duty Death, I would definitely reach out and recommend their services"

Remembering line of duty death of Detroit Police Officer Neil Keith Wells. End of Watch, April 4, 2001. April 4, 2016 14:06

On this day of remembrance, keep the family of Police Officer Neil Keith Wells, Detroit Police Department. in your prayers.

Rest in Peace my Brother in Blue.

End of Watch: Wednesday, April 4, 2001

...

Officer Neil Wells was shot and killed while he and other officers were investigating a complaint of drug dealing in a partially vacant apartment building.

Officer Wells was in plain clothes and wearing a vest. As he searched the building, he encountered one of the suspects and was shot twice, once in the chest and once in the side, with an AK-47 rifle. At least one of the rounds bypassed his vest.

Three suspects were apprehended at the scene shortly after the shooting. The shooter was determined to have been released early from prison after using a false name. He was apprehended after murdering Officer Wells and sentenced to 62 to 92 years for the murder.

Officer Wells was a member of a unit which policed high-crime areas. He had been employed with the Detroit Police Department for 14 years, and is survived by a teenage son and a teenage daughter.
